Weird but tastyJapanese snacks !

You are sightseeing, enjoying the most exotic or interesting aspects of Japan, visiting shrines and eating local food ? Or are you frequenting school everyday with the goal of mastering the Japanese language one day ? mmh, maybe you are just here to meet so friends and are partying every night until dawn ? Whatever, you surely need to recharge your batteries from times to time and eat some snacks right ? Then you go into a convenient store or supermarket and... you discover plenty of original snacks !
I am here talking about western-style snacks and not even particular Japanese snack (or wagashi) because yes, in Japan snacks sold by western brands are also worth checking !
I'll give  a quick rundown of some of them below.

KitKat is very famous in many countries in the West because of its stable and tasty flavor and it is common sense that it is a chocolate flavored snack right ? But here in Japan, not only you'll find lots of Kitkat with different flavors, but the original one (the chocolate one) is not necessarily the easiest to find and the most popular. To this day, there have been over 80 flavors sold but currently only about 19 varieties can be found on stores' shelves.
To mention some of them, Green tea, Expresso, strawberry, soy sauce etc... !

The next ones are really standard over here and rare are people who do not eat some of them from times to times. Everybody should recognize the old man on the bag, this is the famous "Karl ojisan" Grandpa Karl !
Flavors that could be considered original for us but are rather standard for Japanese people (often the case) would be soy sauce flavor, wasabi flavor, seaweed flavor etc...

We have Mikado and they also have it... Well it looks the same but ironically as
much as Mikado sounds Japanese, it is not called the same in Japan because... it is made by another company, one of the most famous, Glicco.
Aside from the standard ones, the flavors you can find are pimpkin, coffee, melon, mango etc...

Now let's move on to drinks.

Let's start with the famous rival of Coca Cola, Pepsi. Here are the flavors you can get : yogurt, cucumber and shiso (plant member of the mint family) .  Well, I heard that these may not be available anymore, but it is funny to see that Japanese people tried to create something very original, to say the least (the flavors chosen are milk, vegetable and plant ! ) that finally turned out not to be too popular...

Curry rice, originally Indian cuisine, in his Japanese arranged version has become a national dish very popular in Japan. It is even considered as genuine Japanese cuisine. So along with Shoyu, it is a very representative and represented taste in Japanese cuisine, and drinks are no exception.
Here is a curry lemonade, it is kind of yellowish so yeah it must be curry... As for the spiciness, I have never tried it so I can't say but is it even possible for a drink to be spicy... ?

Among the different fruit flavors existing in Japan, melon seems to be pretty recurrent though I have  no idea why. So you have several melon flavored sodas and drinks . For example, the beer giant Sapporo has his own version.

Now, you can try to combine these drinks and snacks and enjoy yourself !
